fearghal was born in galway, the only son of a catholic priest and a housewife. but given that catholic priests were sworn to a vow of celibacy - his parents had only been allowed to stay married because they’d been married for years before his father became a priest - he was sent away to live with an aunt, who lived in clifden, a town about two hours away from galway, where she raised him as though he was her own. he didn’t know any different, assuming that she was actually his mother and not his aunt.it stayed that way until he turned 18, when his aunt decided that because he was technically an adult, he deserved to know about his true lineage. he had no interest in meeting his real parents, because if they hadn’t wanted him, then why should he bother wanting them? it was around that time that he started thinking that he might not be straight, and he pretty much confirmed that when he had a drunken one night stand. word got back to his aunt, who swore that if she found out he’d ever done something like that again, she’d kill him.when he turned 25, he became ordained as a priest himself, because it was easier to take a vow of celibacy than try and tackle the fact that he’d be disappointing his family if he came out as gay. and that was fine for a good ten years, until he started getting feelings for a guy in his congregation who apparently returned his feelings. because of that, he realised that he deserved better than trying to hide who he was. he needed to be proud of who he was, not hide behind a vow of celibacy just because his aunt didn’t approve of who he was.

so he left the church, only to find that he’d been misguided in thinking that his feelings would be returned. but it didn’t matter, because he had the freedom to be his authentic self. he moved back to galway, which had a bigger scene for lgbt nightlife, where he lived until he recently. even galway felt limiting eventually, so with the money he'd saved - and the inheritance of his recently dead aunt, who had somehow come through for him despite swearing her hate - he packed up and moved to london, which is where he finds himself now.he considers himself to be pretty fun-loving, enjoying a booze-filled night out, even more so now that he’s no longer a priest. he’s outgoing, used to speaking to a lot of people at once, but he’s not overly talkative; he’s quite soft-spoken, in fact, and is more than happy to listen in a conversation rather than lead it.

montague douglas archibald hamilton was born into a dynasty that had preceeded him for hundreds of years. on his father's side, the hamiltons have been in residence at yarleston hall since 1803. his father, archibald, was a heavy proponent of the idea that a child's father should only be present for those important moments. unfortunately, his mother, philippa, also seemed to favour this idea.growing up involved a veritable parade of nannies and tutors, all brought in with the idea of enriching his education. private school wasn't good enough for a hamilton boy, so he would be home schooled, as it was the only way to ensure that he was taught in a way that his father would approve of. but montague - or monty, as he preferred to be called - had no interest in learning, preferring instead to spend time with his paints, or outside in the fresh air.he coasted through oxford on 'daddy's money'. and okay, it wasn't like he did incredibly badly when it came to his grades, but it certainly helped that his father was publicly acknowledged as a rather large benefactor. "hamilton boys have always gone to oxford," he was told. "we shan't have you going to somewhere that begins with, god forbid, university of." and though his father would argue that fine art 'isn't a proper degree anyway', he could still tell people that his son was an oxford graduate, which is all he really wanted in the first place.

he'd never have to work if he didn't want to, that much was basically guaranteed for him, and as long as he kept his nose out of trouble, then the nice flat in london that he was living in would continue to be paid for. and he stayed out of trouble, for a while, but they never said anything about using his nose for other things. a rather intense drug-fuelled night in soho earned him a spot on various gossip blogs and multiple charges for possession of a class A drug.the drugs charges went away pretty quickly once his father got involved, but he was on his last warning. he hadn't been aware of any prior warnings of the sort, though according to his father, would 'never hear the end of it if he brought shame to the hamiltion name again'.so he's trying to stay clean, for the most part, though living in london certainly doesn't help with that.

hugh is a born and bred new yorker, following in the footsteps of his parents who were also both new yorkers from birth. growing up in manhattan, with rich parents, could easily have made him spoilt, but in fact it did the opposite. instead of languishing in an apartment like he had the opportunity to do, he actually spent the majority of his time outside of manhattan, choosing instead to make friends across the bay in staten island.coming from a family of lawyers, it only seemed natural to hugh that he should follow in the family trade. both his mother and father, and his three brothers and sister, were all either lawyers or studying to be one, and he didn’t want to deviate from the pattern. he gained an undergraduate degree in social and cultural analysis with a minor in law & society, and was eventually accepted into NYU law at the age of 22 with an LSAT score of 174 and a 3.6 GPA.he eventually got himself a job as a civil rights attorney, often working pro bono cases in order to help those who can’t afford the price that his firm has set for him. however, his firm wouldn’t let him use their resources and make no money in the process, so he moonlighted at the city bar justice center in his free time, mainly working on their LGBT Advocacy, immigrant women and children, and refugee assistance projects.

however, there was only so far he could go at his current firm, especially considering what he wanted to achieve, and what they were allowing him to do. a friend and colleague of his, veronica greenaway, had also been feeling dissatisfied with her job, and made a suggestion to him: starting their own firm. and thus, greenaway & bennett law was founded.it was slow going, at first, but over the years they'd built up a fairly decent client bank between themselves. eventually, their firm became reputable, and hugh was free to pursue the civil rights work that he'd initially gotten into the business for.a man who grew up around a large family would no doubt soon begin to want a family of his own. it took the best part of a decade for him to feel settled enough that he could even begin to think about adopting, but the wait was more than worth it. his brother helped him out a lot during the first few months, as he tried to find his own as a new father to a seven month old daughter.that was eight years ago and now he lives with his daughter, sofía, in a house in rye, westchester county. though the majority of his family still lives in the city, he wanted to give his daughter a chance to have a sprawling garden, and a taste of life outside of a bustling city.

born in hanoi, vietnam, sofía never got a chance to experience her birthplace. her birth parents moved to the US to try and start a new life for their family. but their fairytale life was not to be. not long after they arrived, sofía's birth parents were in a car accident that unfortunately claimed their lives. with no other relatives in the US, sofía was sent to a foster home at the tender age of five months old. but she wasn't there for long. within two months, she had been adopted by hugh bennett.growing up in an apartment in manhattan had always felt extravagant. even when they moved to a suburb in rye, their home was spacious and well-furnished. she wasn't a spoiled child, but she didn't want for anything. most importantly, she was loved unconditionally, which allowed her to flourish into a bright and happy adult.

if there was one thing she wanted to do, it was follow in her father's footsteps. he'd been the main influential figure in her life and she'd been genuinely fascinated by the law books that he'd had laying around the house. so when the time came to pick her college choices, her first thought had been to study law at NYU, just as he had done. it took a lot of work but she achieved it, and moved back into the city for the first year of her studies. it was only during her second year that she alternated between living back at home in rye, and staying at an apartment in queens that her father paid rent for, which is where she finds herself now.

at 21, he met andy. andy, the man who became his on again/off again boyfriend. they went through a cycle, really. honeymoon bliss that lasted about a year or so, martial domesticity for a year after that, and then andy always got bored. he always strayed. but leander, blinded by his love for a man who continued to cheat on him again and again, always went back. it was a cycle that continued for the next 9 years or so. until andy left for good, went all the way washington d.c., and away from leander.at 33, he finds himself almost completely alone. artemis’ whereabouts are mostly unknown, outside of the fact that he's in california, and his twin brother has been travelling the country for a few months with some friends.he’s the definition of the ‘good time guy’. he loves a party, loves getting involved with people, talking to them and being in their company. but he loves too easily, way too easily, and falls too hard in the process. his eagerness to love and be loved often has him being blinded by it all.

the first thing that he remembers is waking up in a field, rain pouring down on him as he lays in the dirt. he doesn't know his name, he doesn't know where he is, he doesn't know anything about himself.and then all he knows is hunger, a desperate ache low in his stomach that gnaws at him, begs to be filled.so he makes his way to the nearest village in the hopes of finding an inn to satiate his hunger. but what he finds instead is a slew of slaughtered residents, dead in their homes and in the streets. someone, or something, had torn through the small village and left no-one standing.but the thing that strikes him the most is not the devastation that has been wrought, it's how intoxicating the smell of their blood is. so much so that he can't stop himself from dropping to his knees and trying to drink as much as he can from the corpses. and though it tastes stale, as though it's been there for too long, it still somewhat helps with his hunger.it's then that he hears footsteps, and when he looks up, he sees a woman standing before him. she looks unharmed, but frightened, and as he rises to his feet, the fright turns to a shocked recognition."john?" he hears her ask, but he doesn't allow her to get any further than that. he is on her faster than he thought possible, suddenly sharp teeth ripping and tearing at her throat to get to the hot, rich blood he can smell underneath her skin.and it tastes... divine.he knows, in that moment, that he never wants to taste anything else again. it makes him feel so full, too. the hunger is gone, for now.

so that's how he lives for the next few months, sleeping during the day and moving under the cover of the night, so that he won't be seen. he drinks, and he kills, and then he moves on to the next place. he doesn't hunger for anything else, with the blood being enough to fully satiate him.one night, he's getting ready to leave the house he'd been squatting in when there's a knock at the front door. when he opens it, there stands the most beautiful man that he thinks he's ever seen."there you are," he says. "i thought i'd lost you for good." and it's said with such a tenderness that john starts to cry, and he realises that it's from relief, that he finally feels now that he might be able to have some kind of purpose.the man sits him down and gently explains that he's john's sire, that he's the reason for the blood craving, and that john is a vampire."i don't know what that means," he tells the man. "i don't even know who i am.""don't worry," he's told. "i'm here to take care of you now."they travel to london, and that's where they reside for the next 160 or so years, living in relative peace. his sire teaches him to hunt carefully, to never take more blood than he needs, because killing people will be what gets them caught."do you want to know who you were?" he's asked one night after they've just returned home. but john just shakes his head, kicking off his shoes and settling down on their sofa."i know who i am now, and that's enough."

the wikipedia page for artemis contains the following important information:one, his full name is artemis george wright.two, his birthday is august 29th and he was born in seattle, washington.three, he has a bachelor's degree in anthropology from stanford university, a master's degree in the same subject, and currently works as the director of the earth science projects office at NASA.other than that, the information that is available to the public about him is relatively scarce. his relationship status and his familial history are kept somewhat under wraps, and he prefers it that way.for those that know him personally, they'll know that he's the eldest of the three wright brothers, and somewhat of a surrogate father to the younger twins. despite the fact that there's only ten years between them, once their mother's dementia became more of an issue, and with their father out of the picture, artemis stepped in to parent his brothers as best as he could at the age of thirteen.it's for the sake of his family that he waits until the twins are at least sixteen before he even thinks about going to college. as it turns out, he doesn't end up leaving until just after their seventeeth birthday. and he doesn't want to, not really, but for the sake of making sure that he can still support them in the future, he knows that he needs to make something of himself.

by this point, he's twenty-seven years old, and he doesn't graduate from stanford until he's thirty-two, once his master's is taken into account. but during that time, he'd built connections, making himself known to everyone that he could at NASA's ames research center. he manages to secure himself an internship with the promise of an entry-level job once the internship period is over.for the following eleven years, he works his ass off to climb through the ranks within the earth science projects division. he works a ridiculous amount of overtime, and tries not to let his personal relationships suffer for it, but he doesn't speak to his family as much as he would like.even now, when he's settled in his career as the director, he still works an inordinate amount, more than he probably should. though he tries to be as present for his family as he can, the most he usually manages is a weekend phone call with his mother, just to make sure that she's doing okay.though he's initially guarded, and somewhat reserved, he tends to open up a little more once he gets to know you. someone once told him that he can appear cold, so he often finds himself making an effort to seem more warm and personable. he even has a sense of humour, though it takes a little while for it to actually show. and though he probably won’t admit it, he actually enjoys spending time with other people, but that’s because he’s just been so used to spending time on his own and he finds it difficult to carve out much time to actually be sociable.
